Stepping out side your (my) comfort zone

This is my year to really re-evaluate and to make change and that means stepping out of my comfort zone; whether its technical challenges, personal, business, or just life. I am shy by nature (which will surprise some that know me as I am very comfortable speaking to groups) but I have forced myself to not let that stop me. I am a very private person but thru Marin Women at Work and my friends and colleagues I have learned to be more open and to share. Why? Perhaps because I am in my mid-fifties and feel like I am on the other side of life and want to embrace that now and every day!, or maybe its the women that I have met that have been willing to share there personal stories, or maybe I have just stopped caring about whether someone judges me...

I recently visited my friend Kimmie in Oregon and we have known each other thru the crazy eighties, single days in SF, marriages, child birth, divorces, peri-menopause, wrinkles, saggy arms and all that life brings and we laughed out loud for hours. Whether we were hiking, cooking dinner, or having cocktails we talked about everything past and present. And she asked me what the heck has changed in you. And I stated life is too short, I have made mistakes, I will continue to make mistakes, but I am healthy and happy and I just want to share all that goes along with that.

This year I am adding podcasts (very personal) to our website and I am hoping to be as honest and candid as possible with myself and with my guests. And I have created this because I feel so strongly that our personal journeys have made us the strong women we are today and that by hearing one woman's story of challenges may help another women either in her grief or reaching her before she makes the same mistake.

My ask from this blog is, what are you doing to step outside your comfort zone? And how do you feel when you you do it? I can honestly say stepping outside of my comfort zone has healed so much, I laugh more, enjoy my time with friends more and really just embrace life more...and if someone does not like it F*&% them!

If you want to share the changes you have made please email me at collaborate@marinwomenatwork.com. All responses will remain private.
