Formerly an elementary school teacher of 24 years, I have switched my focus from teaching to coaching children, teens, young adults, and parents around understanding ADHD and executive skills. Coaching is a forward thinking process to empower the client to reach their goals and aspirations with no judgement or agenda from the coach. When coaching a client with ADHD or executive function issues, I use an ADHD lens to help uncover obstacles that might be getting in their way. This awareness and understanding of one's unique brain wiring helps replace shame and frustration with self-compassion and patience. By using the framework and core competencies created by ICF, I hope to help families through this process. My goal as a coach is to support the child to become more independent and self-aware as well as supporting the parents to understand how they too can guide their child to independence.
